KSH: consumer prices exceeded the values of the same month of the previous year by an average of 4.3 percent
In October 2025, consumer prices were 4.3 percent higher on average than a year earlier. Prices did not change on average compared to September, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Tuesday.

Food prices increased by 3.9 percent in 12 months compared to October 2024 (1.7 percent excluding catering services), including eggs by 20.2, chocolate and cocoa by 16.1, coffee by 14.8, confectionery and flour products by 12.8, buffet products by 10.3, fruit and vegetable juices by 9.0, school meals by 7.7, non-alcoholic soft drinks by 7.2, pastries by 6.5, cooking oil by 5.3, and poultry meat by 3.1 percent. Within the product group, the price of margarine decreased by 27.8, flour by 14.8, dairy products by 10.2, milk by 8.9, sugar by 8.8, sausages by 6.6, and pork by 5.8 percent.
The Central Statistical Office announced that household energy costs had increased by 10.7 percent on average, with piped gas rising by 23.7 percent and electricity by 2.1 percent.
The price of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 7.5 percent, with tobacco products rising by 8.7 percent.
Services increased by 6.7 percent, including holiday services by 13.2, vehicle repair and maintenance by 10.1, health services by 9.7, personal care services by 9.4, home repair and maintenance and rent by 9.0-9.0, sports and museum tickets by 8.4 percent.
The price of durable consumer goods increased by 2.4 percent, including jewelry by 22.2, room furniture by 4.4, heating and cooking equipment by 2.9, and new passenger cars by 2.0 percent.
According to the report, the The price of vehicle fuels decreased by 2.2 percent, and the price of medicines and medical supplies increased by 5.9 percent.
In one month, compared to September 2025, consumer prices did not change on average. Food prices decreased by 0.1 percent (0.4 percent excluding catering services), mainly due to the 2.1 percent price decrease in seasonal foods. The price of confectionery decreased by 2.5 percent, sugar by 1.1 percent, fruit and vegetable juices by 1.1 percent, pork by 1.0 percent, butter and butter cream by 0.7 percent, eggs by 3.3 percent, pastries by 1.6 percent, and margarine by 0.5 percent.
Due to the change of season, clothing items became most expensive, by 2.3 percent. The price of household energy did not change on average, within which piped gas cost 0.1 percent more and bottled gas cost 0.4 percent less. The price of services decreased by 0.1 percent on average, within which the price of holiday services decreased by 0.9 percent. The price of vehicle fuels decreased by 1.1 percent, and that of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies by 0.1 percent, the Central Statistical Office reported.
