KSH: Poultry meat and bread cost 2.8 and 2.7 percent more compared to the same month of the previous year
In January of this year, consumer prices exceeded a year earlier by an average of 25.7 percent, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) announced on Friday.
Over the past year, household energy and food prices have risen the most. Consumer prices increased by an average of 2.3 percent in one month.
In twelve months, compared to January 2022, the price of food increased by 44.0 percent, including mainly bread (80.6 percent), eggs (79.4 percent), butter and butter cream (76.6 percent), cheese (76.1 percent), dairy products (75.8 percent), confectionery flour (73.8 percent), dry pasta (66.4 percent), margarine (57.9 percent), pastries (56, 3 percent), poultry meat (48.3 percent) and milk (48.2 percent) rose in price. Within the product group, the price of cooking oil decreased by 6.4 percent and the price of flour by 0.9 percent.
