KSH: employment remained at a 68.8 percent record level
In the fourth quarter of last year, the average number of employees was 4 million 447 thousand, 36 thousand ie 0.8 percent more than a year before. The employment rate for people aged 15-64 grew by 1.3 percentage points to 68.8 percent in one year – the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Tuesday.
The employment rate remained unchanged, compared to the peak reached in the previous three month period.
Over the past year, the average number of people employed was 4 million 421 thousand, which was 70,000 more than in 2016. The employment rate for the 15-64 age group – still record-level – was 68.2 percent, 1.6 percentage points higher than in the previous year.
In the fourth quarter of 2017, the number of people on the primary labor market grew by 88,000, the number of those who reported themselves as public employees increased by 39,000, and the number of people working in foreign sites decreased by 13,000, compared to a year before.
