KSH: Agricultural output value increased by 6.5 percent
In 2023, the total output value of agriculture exceeded HUF 4.3 thousand billion, which is 6.5 percent more than a year earlier. A 25 percent increase in total production volume contributed to the expansion. The total output price level of the sector decreased by 15 percent, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) announced on Thursday based on its first estimate.
The volume of crop cultivation was 44 percent higher, that of animal breeding was 0.5 percent lower. The record-high volume growth of individual field crops can be linked to the low base of the previous year, announced the KSH. The amount of cereals increased by 64 percent overall, including corn by 121 percent, rye by 63 percent, oats by 62 percent, barley by 42 percent, and wheat by 36 percent. Rapeseed production increased by 16 percent and sunflower by 56 percent. Protein crops, sugar beet and tobacco also increased, so the amount of industrial crops increased by 44 percent overall. The volume of fodder crops increased by 24 percent, that of horticultural products by 14 percent, and that of potatoes by 9.6 percent. The volume of fruits decreased by 0.3 percent, within which the yield of apples increased by 39 percent, and that of peaches decreased by 40 percent. The volume of other plant products and grapes remained unchanged. The total production volume of animal husbandry decreased by 0.5 percent. The production of live animals increased by 0.6 percent, that of animal products decreased by 2.7 percent.
The value of the output of the agricultural sector (calculated together with services and secondary activities) increased by 6.5 percent at current base prices, and its production volume increased by 25 percent – in addition to a 15 percent decrease in prices – announced the KSH.
The volume of current productive use decreased by 1.5 percent, and its price increased by 1.7 percent overall. Based on the first data, the volume of fertilizers decreased by 10 percent, that of plant protection by 8.0 percent, and that of animal feed decreased by 1.0 percent, while other expenditures increased slightly or remained unchanged. The gross added value increased by 19 percent and its volume by 79 percent. Labor use in agriculture decreased by 4.1 percent. The income of production factors increased by 16 percent, and the income of entrepreneurs by 13 percent. The real income of production factors per labor unit increased by 5.5 percent compared to the previous year – according to the first estimate of the KSH.
