KSH: Total agricultural output value increased by 6.2 percent this year

The production volume of agriculture fell by 3.6 percent, of which crop production fell by 8.7 percent. Early and late spring frosts, weather with a lack of precipitation, and summer atmospheric and soil drought on the one hand hindered crop production, especially the development of root crops, the flowering and pollination of fruit trees, and on the other hand, they also restrained animal husbandry through fodder production. The resurgence of animal diseases during the year – such as foot-and-mouth disease and avian influenza -, the increase in the price of grain feed and market competition shaped production in a contradictory way: the volume of cattle and poultry farming decreased slightly, while pig farming and the production of animal products such as milk and eggs came to the fore. The increased supply surplus of slaughter pigs resulted in a similar decrease in the producer price – the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported.

According to preliminary data, the production volume of crop production decreased by 8.7 percent in 2025 compared to the previous year, and its price level increased by 14 percent

The total volume of cereals decreased by 6.3 percent, of which corn decreased by 29 percent, wheat by 10 percent, barley by 9.0 percent, and rye by 1.6 percent. The yield of rapeseed decreased by 7.3 percent, that of sunflower by 6.2 percent. The yield of protein crops and tobacco increased, that of sugar beet decreased, so the volume of industrial crops overall decreased by 9.4 percent. The volume of fodder crops decreased by 3.0 percent, that of horticultural products by 5.5 percent. The volume of fruit crops decreased by 32 percent, of which the yield of peaches decreased by 68 percent, that of apples by 48 percent, and that of pears by 18 percent. The volume of grapes and wine increased by 6.8 percent and 7.0 percent, respectively.

The KSH report states that the volume of intermediate consumption decreased by 0.6 percent, and its price increased by 4.2 percent overall. Among the expenditures, energy and lubricants decreased by 5.0 percent, veterinary costs by 7.3 percent, and feed by 2.0 percent. Gross value added expanded by 11 percent, its volume contracted by 8.9 percent. Labor use in agriculture decreased by 1.7 percent, income from production factors by 11 percent, and entrepreneurial income by 21 percent exceeded the previous year, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) announced based on its first estimate.
