KSH: foreign trade deficit was 611 million euros in April
In April, euro-denominated exports fell by 37.9 percent and imports by 28.4 percent from a year earlier, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Tuesday, according to its first estimate. The foreign trade balance closed the month with a deficit of 611 million euros, deteriorating by 840 million euros due to a smaller decline in imports than exports.
As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the foreign trade turnover of products in both directions decreased significantly compared to the same period of the previous year, the KSH added.
Since August 2018, the monthly balance of the trade balance has not been in deficit, even then the deficit was only one tenth of April this year, 62 million euros. (MTI)
