Until 2027, the European Union allocated a total of 377 billion euros for the so-called new priorities, within the framework of 24 professional programs. Projects that are exemplary for the Union are financed with the funds available through tenders. Budapest SMEs can also apply for these funds – the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BKIK) and the Hungarian Development Support Office (MFOI) held an information day for businesses.

At the information event called “Union funding opportunities for business development purposes”, the funds available for “Green transition support” and “Digital and new technologies, innovations” were reviewed by MFOI consultants, and BKIK experts explained the application process and also showed how organizational transformations may be necessary in order for a company to be able to successfully carry out a tender project. In addition, the participants were able to learn about good practices and success factors from both areas.

It was said at the event: in the case of direct EU funds – in contrast to, among other things, Cohesion Fund funds, which can be used within the framework of the Operational Programs – the competition is not national, but European: they primarily support and strengthen projects that have EU-level relevance cooperation between countries and fields of expertise with consortia tenders.

“Based on the figures of the previous cycle, domestic companies still have enormous untapped opportunities in terms of direct sources. The goal of the Hungarian Development Support Office is to provide approximately 7 billion euros in funding to Hungarian applicants by 2027. For this, the Hungarian economic actors have to improve a lot, but this must definitely be done. The budget system of the European Union is undergoing transformation, in the long term those countries that are successful in the field of direct funds will get access to more EU funds”

– said Dr. Petri Bernadett, the managing director of the MFOI.
