This year’s Wine Producer of the Year will be selected from among them
The nomination phase for the 2024 Wine Producer of the Year in Hungary award has closed. After aggregating the opinions of 850 surveyed professionals, the Hungarian Wine Academy announced the five producers with the most votes, who are in line to win the final title of Wine Producer of the Year, also known as the Kossuth Award of winemakers.
The official name of the award is “Wine Producer of the Year in Hungary”, which is being awarded for the 34th time. The title does not mean recognition of the excellent quality of a wine, but can be awarded for the outstanding performance of the wine producer over several years, the constant excellent quality of his wines, and their domestic and international successes. This is therefore the most prestigious domestic award that Hungarian winemakers can receive.
This year’s candidates in alphabetical order:
József Lamport – Eger wine region
Zsolt Liptai – Pannonhalma wine region
Attila Szentpéteri Jr. – Kunság wine region
István Szepsy Jr. – Tokaj wine region
Csaba Vesztergombi – Szekszárd wine region
