An outstanding investment project is launched in Hungary, also at the Central and Eastern European level

After Győr and Miskolc, Ceres ZRt, a subsidiary of the Czech Penam group and a key player in the domestic bakery market, is starting the construction of another factory in Hungary. The company is building a new, high-capacity toast bread factory in the Tata Industrial Park as part of a 24.6 billion forint investment co-financed by the Government of Hungary and the European Union, which is planned to be one of the most modern facilities of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe.  

At the ceremonial event, on behalf of the Hungarian Government, Dr. István Nagy, Minister of Agriculture, and dr. Illés Boglárka, State Secretary for Bilateral Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, also participated. 

 With over seventy years of industry experience, Ceres ZRt. is a key player in the Hungarian baking industry. The company operates with nationwide coverage, a significant market share and a modern production background. Its main profile is the production of pre-baked, pre-sliced ​​and packaged bread. The company currently has two domestic production units, in Győr and Miskolc. 

Continuing its innovation efforts, the company decided to implement a new, large-scale development in 2024. The construction of the new plant will begin with a ceremonial groundbreaking in March 2026. The new toast bread factory being built in the Tata Industrial Park is being supported by the Government of Hungary and the European Union with a financial support of 4.2 billion forints. 

The investment is being implemented as a development of outstanding importance from a national economic perspective. In order to implement the investment, the company has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Hungarian State, the aim of which is to strengthen the competitiveness of the domestic food industry, develop high-value-added food production, and support the Hungarian economy and rural employment in the long term. 

The new plant will have a floor area of ​​approximately 14 thousand square meters and will be able to produce nearly 100 tons of toast bread per day. The aim of the investment is to expand domestic production capacities, strengthen regional export opportunities, and create a sustainable and energy-efficient food industry production base. The development will not only help serve consumers with reliable and high-quality products, but will also contribute to strengthening the local economy, creating new job opportunities in the region and supporting domestic supplier and raw material supply chains. 

The new factory will feature modern, highly automated production, packaging and logistics systems, with robotic and artificial intelligence-supported technologies increasing efficiency. 

The The investment contributes to the company’s sustainability efforts. The plant uses several energy efficiency solutions and utilizes renewable energy sources.
