The deadline for payment of the damage mitigation contribution is approaching
The Ministry of Agriculture draws farmers’ attention to the fact that members of the agricultural damage mitigation system must pay the damage mitigation contribution by September 15, 2023. The above deadline is the deadline for the receipt of the contribution to the account of the Hungarian State Treasury, not the time of sending the amount or initiating the payment. Therefore, it is particularly important that the payer takes care of the transfer before the deadline, taking into account the time required for the transfer.
Taking into account the size of the areas declared in this year’s unified application and the crops grown, the farmers were required to pay a damage mitigation contribution, which the Hungarian Treasury already informed the affected farmers in its decision sent by August 15. If the damage mitigation contribution for the damage mitigation year 2023 is not received on the account of the Hungarian Treasury by the indicated deadline, the damaged producer cannot receive damage mitigation benefits for this year’s damages, regardless of whether the other support conditions may have been met. In addition, contributions not paid by the deadline will be collected by the State Treasury from the farmer. In the 2023 damage mitigation year, a total of more than 5,300 damage reports have been received on an area of approximately 90,000 hectares.
