The price of wheat rose to an almost four-month high on the Chicago Grain Exchange
Wheat prices rose to about a four-month high in Chicago due to Saturday’s events in Russia and drought in parts of the United States.
On the Chicago Stock Exchange (CBOT), the price of June wheat per bushel (36.35 liters) rose to $7.52, the highest level since the end of February. Uncertainty over top exporter Russia emerged after Wagner mercenaries temporarily seized the city of Rostov, in the country’s key grain-growing region, on Saturday, according to data manager Trading Economics. Meanwhile, there is also concern that the drought affecting the Midwest region of the United States may cause more serious crop losses.
