The red sludge disaster caused nearly 400 million damage to the Coop subsidiary
Due to the red sludge disaster one plant of the Somló group completely destroyed and several damages occurred at further four sites. Coop employs more than 500 people in and around Devecser – told Tornai Tamás, the principal owner of Somló Coop Zrt, to MTI.
The largest damage occurred at the Devecser-based Hungaro-Chips Ltd.: the plant's total assets and stocks destroyed, their combined value exceeds 385 million HUF – added Tornai Tamás.
Due to the disaster, the Devecser-based sites of clothes manufacturer and distributor Admirer Kft. and Milde Kft. are under red sludge, while the site of the Devecseri Machinery and Automation (DGA) Ltd. has also suffered damages. The three companies employ nearly 300 people.
