The price of eggs fell by nearly 30 percent
According to data from the price monitoring system of the Economic Competition Authority, the price of eggs dropped by nearly 30 percent in a single day.
On Monday, it was HUF 63 in the pack of 10, while on Tuesday it was only HUF 45. According to the Competition Authority, this shows that the price monitoring system continues to protect Hungarian families from price increases and contributes to lowering prices, which helps to fight inflation. The prices of the products monitored in the price monitoring system have decreased by more than 2 percentage points since the beginning of July, and the still popular system already has more than 750,000 unique visitors. Price competition between retail chains has intensified, a good example of which is the sudden drop in the price of eggs.
“Since its launch on July 1st, the system has contributed to the reduction of food inflation by more than 2 percentage points. Out of the 62 product categories monitored in the price monitoring system, the average prices of products decreased in 53 product categories.”
