Nearly 250 people imagined what the shopping center of the future would be like

The logo competition in the Westend has ended, for which nearly 250 works were received. According to the call for proposals, this year we had to imagine what the shopping center of the future would be like and, accordingly, we had to fill the Westend logo, the large letter “W”, with creative content. The professional and tenant jury made its decision at the end of November and the winners of the audience award were also revealed. The best 40 works were placed in the corridors of the Westend, where anyone can see them until mid-January.

It is slowly becoming a tradition that in autumn, Westend calls out a design competition on some interesting and important topic, for which the shopping center offers its logo. This year, the applicants had to take an imaginary trip into the future, dreaming of what a shopping center will be like in 20-30 years. Will there still be traditional stores and what will be the role of artificial intelligence or robots in the shopping process? How and to what extent will shopping experiences be customizable and what will the public spaces of malls be like in the future?

The imaginations of nearly 250 applicants were so stimulated by these questions that they rethought the Westend container logo and filled the iconic letter “W” with creative content. The tenders were evaluated by a professional jury and a tenant jury. Eszter Csorba, marketing director of Westend, painter Máté Orr, artist of the Várfok Gallery, László Lelkes, associate professor of the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts, and curator Júlia Bacsek awarded the professional prize worth HUF 300,000 to Celina Fetter. Zoltán Venczel Helping hand c. his work was the second, Garamvölgyi Anett Probafülke c. and his creation is the third place. They became richer with Westend gift cards worth HUF 200,000 and HUF 100,000 respectively.
