Italy’s Fontaneto Introduces Compostable Pasta Packaging
Italian artisanal fresh-pasta producer Pastificio Fontaneto will serve its products in new, fully compostable and recyclable packaging.
The packaging has been designed by Novamont, Gualapack, Ilip, and Gruppo Poligrafico Tiberino – a group of companies from the green-chemistry and plastic-processing sectors.
The project envisages replacing traditional plastic/multilayer packaging with a certified industrially compostable pack, consisting of a thermoformed tray, heat-sealed film, and a compostable label.
The end result is the first 100% compostable and biodegradable fresh-pasta pack – TÜV certified and made from Mater-Bi, a material with a high content of renewable raw materials.
