Aldi started a serious wave of store openings
Aldi has announced further expansion plans in the United States. Aldi opened more stores in America in 2022 and 2023 than any other grocery chain, according to the latest data from JLL and RetailStat. The company has ambitious plans to open an additional 800 new stores in the United States by 2028, including acquisitions of the Winn-Dixie and Harveys brands.
The main driving force behind Aldi’s expansion is targeting price-sensitive customers. According to Aldi’s press release, the expansion is especially beneficial for consumers who want to save money. According to Advantage’s report, a third of customers have already switched grocery stores to save money, and Aldi’s strategy is based on price-sensitive customers, Emarketer reports.
Aldi’s expansion plans focus not only on increasing the number of stores, but also on bringing stores close to people, providing even more customers with affordable food and a convenient shopping experience.
