There is a serious problem with fruit and vegetable deliveries from Turkey
Spain’s LA UNIÓ urges the European Union to take action against vegetables and fruits from Turkey.
According to LA UNIÓ de Llauradors i Ramaders, the Association of Agricultural Producers and Livestock Breeders, the August data of the European Union’s Food and Feed Safety Alert System (RASFF) shows that in the case of fruits and vegetables, 87% of all unmarketable products still come from Turkey. a, as they contain active substances not authorized in the EU or contained higher maximum residue limits (MRLs) than those permitted at the EU level. Of the 481 cases detected in fruits and vegetables in the first eight months of the year, 417 came from Turkey and 49 from Egypt
Of the 27 sightings in August, 18 were from Turkey, six from Egypt and two from Morocco. Up until August, the most products excluded from the EU market were citrus fruits, as 481 out of 203 were citrus, which represents 42% of all excluded products. If we look at last month, 9 of them were citrus, which is 30%.
