Surge in egg and horseradish prices before Easter
According to AKI PÁIR data, the price of table eggs (M+L) from cage farming in Hungary was HUF 64.53/piece in the first eight weeks of 2025, 20.8% higher than the average price in the same period of 2024.

The packing place price of M size eggs in cartons grew by nearly 20% to HUF 66.79/piece, while that of L size eggs in cartons augmented by 15.7% to HUF 78.64/piece. The packing place price of table eggs from deep-litter farming (M+L) was HUF 71.11/piece in the first eight weeks of 2025, 13.8% higher than the average price in the same period of 2024. The producer price of domestic horseradish was up at HUF 2,000/kg (+65%). Hungary is the biggest producer of horseradish in the European Union. 98% of the production area is located in Hajdú-Bihar county. According to data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH), the volume of Hungary’s horseradish export increased by 13% to 9.50 thousand tonnes and its value was up 20% at HUF 5.6bn in the first eleven months of 2024 (compared to the same period a year earlier). More than 70% of exports went to Germany and Poland. //
