Lidl Belgium To Sell Only Fairtrade-Certified Bananas
Lidl Belgium has announced that it will only offer Fairtrade-certified bananas in its stores from the middle of this year. The move will enable the retailer to ensure that around 14,000 tonnes of bananas are sustainably sourced every year.
„Thanks to Lidl’s commitment, honest bananas are increasingly becoming a habit for Belgian consumers.”, says Nicolas Lambert, director of Fairtrade Belgium.
Lidl Belgium has also set itself the goal of increasing its turnover in sustainable products by 10% annually, reports ESM.
