Delta M Group comes out from Ukraine
The Serbian retailer last year developed a supermarket network called Smak in a joint venture with Ritzio Entertainment Group in Ukraine, has closed down its network.
RetailStudio reported the retailer
opened its first store in the summer of 2008 and closed the year with
four supermarkets. According to the local sources, the network was
unprofitable. The Ukrainian retail market has seen a number of
withdrawals recently. St Petersburg based O’Key sold its share in
O’Key Ukraine and withdrew from the market shortly after it had
opened its first hypermarket in late 2007, while Paterson sold its
small network of stores to Eko in 2008. Other Russian retailers
including X5 Retail Group, Mosmart and Vester have put their
expansion plans on hold in 2008.
