High-quality baked goods from Vela Bakery
How Does Vela Bakery Stand Out with the KMÉ Certification?
Vela Bakery’s dedication to excellent quality has been validated by the KMÉ certification.
30 Years on the Path of Quality
The story of Vela Bakery began more than three decades ago in the basement of a supermarket. Today, a modern 500-square-meter facility ensures the availability of customers’ favorite baked goods. The founder, Tibor Lakatos, has always believed in the importance of quality and expertise, so it is no surprise that his bakery is at the forefront of obtaining the Excellent Quality Food (KMÉ) certification.
Why is the KMÉ Certification Important?
The KMÉ certification process is based on the expertise of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) and its comprehensive examination methods, ensuring the excellence of food products. For Vela Bakery, this is more than just a label—it is recognition of their commitment to high-quality ingredients and traditional baking methods.
The First Step: The Butter Crescent Roll
Three years ago, Tibor Lakatos personally initiated the certification process for Vela Bakery’s butter crescent roll under the KMÉ standards. This was a pioneering step, as it was the first pastry to receive such certification. The process posed significant challenges, but the hard work paid off, and the butter crescent roll rightfully earned the KMÉ certification.
Following the success of the butter crescent roll, their buttery braided brioche also received the KMÉ certification. However, the bakery is not stopping there—soon, they plan to apply for certification for their potato sourdough bread, which is also expected to be a strong contender.
The Strict Standards Behind the KMÉ Certification
According to plant manager Róbert Kondráth, obtaining the KMÉ certification involves more than just sensory evaluations—it also includes rigorous microbiological and analytical inspections. Regular laboratory testing ensures that customers always receive the same outstanding quality. These inspections take place not only at the production facility but also at the sales locations, ensuring quality control at every step.
The Impact of Quality Recognition
Customers immediately noticed the difference. “After the butter crescent roll received the KMÉ certification, demand tripled,” says Tibor Lakatos. The result is clear: consumers appreciate guaranteed quality and reliable, high-standard products.
What Does This Mean for Consumers?
The KMÉ certification guarantees that Vela Bakery’s products stand out from the crowd. The use of high-quality ingredients, traditional methods, and continuous quality control ensure that customers always receive the very best.
