Excellent Quality Foods on ALDI Shelves
ALDI is increasingly offering high-quality products that have earned the Kiváló Minőségű Élelmiszer (Excellent Quality Food = EQF) certification!

The EQF label represents not only quality but also sustainability
How does the EQF label guarantee quality for conscious shoppers?
ALDI was founded in Germany more than a century ago and has since developed into a globally recognized retail chain known for its high-quality and affordable products. Entering the Hungarian market in 2008, ALDI now operates more than 180 stores, supplied by a modern logistics center in Biatorbágy.
“We observe that customers are looking for high-quality, Hungarian products, and we are working to include more private-label foods in our range that have earned the EQF label. The EQF logo provides an additional guarantee beyond the high quality customers expect from us, making it worthwhile to develop products and apply for the EQF certification.”
– said Ádám Pusztai, ALDI’s National Procurement Director.
What is the EQF label?
The Excellent Quality Food (EQF) label was established by the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) a few years ago to certify and highlight the highest-quality domestic foods. To earn the certification, products must meet strict application criteria.
“We are particularly proud of our products that have received the EQF certification because they not only comply with regulatory parameters but also meet sustainability criteria, which aligns with ALDI’s long-standing goals.”
– stated Dóra Lócsi, ALDI’s Quality Assurance and Sustainability Manager.
Guaranteed quality for conscious shoppers
The EQF label represents not only quality but also sustainability. Application requirements such as the use of local ingredients or sustainable water management ensure the incorporation of environmental considerations in the long term. According to Dóra Lócsi: “These conditions go beyond regulatory expectations, but they are the small steps that can make our future more sustainable.”
Together, ALDI and the EQF label ensure that Hungarian shoppers have access to high-quality products produced with a strong focus on sustainability. These efforts not only support Hungarian producers but also lay the foundation for a more sustainable food supply system.
Which ALDI products have earned the EQF label?
Seven of ALDI’s private-label food products, including meat products and lactose-free dairy items, have been awarded the EQF certification:
- Milsani Enjoy free! lactose-free butter;
- Milsani Enjoy free! lactose-free UHT whipped cream 30%;
- Milsani Enjoy free! lactose-free ESL milk 3.5%;
- Milsani Enjoy free! lactose-free sliced Trappista cheese;
- Milsani Enjoy free! lactose-free kefir;
- ALDI paprika salami stick;
- ALDI delicate salami stick.
ALDI’s goal is to have the EQF logo appear on even more products, and the company plans to apply for certification for dry pasta and eggs in the future.
