An elite is about to leave the rest behind?
János Pataki, the president of the Guild of Hungarian Confectioners told our magazine that a lack of interests from confectioners in the Confectioner of the Year and Junior Confectioner of the Year competitions caused a lot of problems. According to him, it was not simply about not having enough money for preparation, simply there is no proper new confectioner generation and young confectioners are unmotivated. It seems that there is going to be a narrow elite circle of confectioners who will leave the rest behind. Luckily there are promising developments as well: the trade stands united, there is no professional jealousy and many participate in the guild’s event. We can talk about positive changes in the domain of ice creams, traditional Hungarian cakes are popular again and the Cake of the Nation project has become a tradition
