The increase of freshwater fish production can be a break out point

The fish stocks of the European seas are depleted, Europe will soon look for new sources and Hungary has excellent features in freshwater fish production – Bitay Márton, Minister of State of the Ministry of Agriculture said on Wednesday in Szarvas at the 39th Fishery Scientific Conference

The Minister of State explained that the quantity and quality of freshwater fish farming in Hungary should be improved. The government supports this goal with a fish marketing program. “This means export opportunities, we should not miss” – he added.

He also reminded that the government treats fishery and fishing as a priority sector. In 2014 an independent Department was created in the Ministry of Agriculture. (MTI)
