Tesco has extended its anti-inflation safety net
According to the data of the Price Watcher, the cheapest chicken breast fillets have been available at Tesco since August. In order to reduce the expenses of the customers, the supermarket chain also fights to lower prices with other means, so for example it keeps the price increase of food below the level of the increase in supplier prices, and in its renewed Price Guarantee program it guarantees low prices for even more frequently sought-after own-brand products, even on sale.
Tesco’s goal is to help Hungarian families and pensioners with the most favorable prices possible, and to ensure the cheap availability of the products most often found in customers’ baskets. According to Árhielő, since August, the supermarket chain has been keeping the price of chicken breast fillets the lowest compared to its competitors on the platform. Due to the very favorable pricing of ex-price stop products, which also include chicken breast fillets, there is a lot of interest in these products, and Tesco will therefore introduce a limit on the quantities that can be purchased at one time from October 12. The limit is higher compared to both the competitors’ restrictions and the quantities allowed at the time of official prices, and it more than covers the weekly needs of households.
Tesco’s price policy is based on low consumer prices in the entire food offering. Inflation data measured on the prices of the same range of products also support that compared to the increase in purchase prices, the increase in the sales prices of the supermarket chain in the months of July-September was 2.8-3.8 percentage points lower, and Tesco passed the difference to the customers in the form of discounted prices .
