Retail alliance: Brexit without agreement may cause food shortages and price increases
The British Retail Federation (BRC) said it could lead to food shortages and price increases if Britain would exit the European Union without agreement.
In a Monday letter from the London House of Representatives sent to the BBC’s public service media, BRC calls the legislators’ attention to the fact that British food supply is heavily dependent on EU sources of supply: 90 percent of salads, 80 percent of tomatoes, 70 percent of fruits come from other EU countries.
