The competition office fined Tesco HUF 7 million for minor deficiencies
Tesco basically fulfilled its commitments to help consumers, but the follow-up investigation revealed minor shortcomings; the Economic Competition Authority (GVH) therefore imposed a HUF 7 million fine on the supermarket chain, which partially admitted the violation – the competition authority told MTI on Thursday.
The GVH recalled that in the fall of 2020, the office accepted the corrective commitments of the operators of the Tesco department store chain, after the company deceived customers and did not inform them in advance that it only provides an online shopping service on its website, and not the web stores that everyone is used to, with stricter legal regulations.
As a result of the procedure, Tesco undertook to correct the deficiencies and develop a real, nationally available online store. The expansion of food delivery options was an effective help to consumers in the epidemic situation – emphasized the competition office.
