Small stores’ big market share
Stores with a floor space of 200m² and less had a 27-percent share from grocery sales in categories audited by Nielsen between December 2013 and September 2014. In the same period their share from candy sales was 39 percent. Sales amounted to more than HUF 15 billion in this period. Value sales were up 5 percent and volume sales were 3 percent higher than in the base period. Manufacturer brands’ share from sales was 82 percent – 2 percentage points less than in the base period.
