Big impact with small steps: Dm develops environmentally neutral range
April will bring the debut of dm’s environmentally neutral Pro Climate product line. Dm developed the new concept in partnership with the Berlin Institute of Technology and its manufacturer partners. While climate neutral products only compensate for CO2 emission, dm compensates for the environmental impacts of production in five categories: climate change, eutrophication, acidification, summer smog and ozone depletion
Shoppers can find the most important products in the new, 14-product range, such as toilet paper, shampoo, shower gel, laundry detergent, cleaner, body and face care products. From dm’s private labels alverde NATURKOSMETIK, Jessa, Sanft&Sicher, Denkmit and Sundance will offer Pro Climate products.
For each product dm calculates the environmental cost of manufacturing in the five categories mentioned above, and the drugstore chain spends this sum on the rehabilitation of industrial and mining areas in Germany – the project is implemented in several phases by HeimatERBE and the result will be ecologically valuable biotopes.
