China may soon be the world's second largest economy
China's economy last year grew by 8.7 percent, exceeding initial expectations of the Beijing government. The news was reported by the director of the national statistical office.
In the last quarter of last year, GDP growth was 10.7 percent, compared to the data recorded a year earlier. The Chinese statistical office’s head acknowledged that China had to face "serious difficulties" in 2009, but the economy has recovered and now it is going in the right direction. The experts rejected the speculations, that the Chinese economy has already surpassed Japan's performance – reports BBC News.
