The winners of the 10th anniversary K&H for Sustainable Agriculture scholarship competition have been announced
The winners of the K&H scholarship competition for sustainable agriculture have been announced for the tenth time. The initiative aims to support the work of agricultural students working on the healthy, sustainable, long-term development of agriculture. The competition rewarded forward-looking ideas such as recovering useful substances from wastewater or further developing organic nutrient replacement products for greater efficiency.
The objectives of the EU Green Deal to significantly reduce the use of pesticides and fertilizers are forcing crop growers to fundamentally rethink their technological options. Sustainable replacement of soil nitrogen loss has been a pressing problem in agriculture for years. The participants of the K&H scholarship competition for sustainable agriculture are looking for answers to such and similar challenges. The aim of the scholarship is to support the study and research work of students who are committed to the healthy, sustainable, long-term development of the agricultural sector with financial support. The student applicants are looking for answers to some agricultural problem or are developing proposals that can make agricultural processes more efficient.
“This year, we received a total of 35 applications, of which 18 are doctoral theses, 4 are master’s theses and 13 are bachelor’s theses. Together with this year’s awards, we have already contributed more than 15 million forints to the professional development of talented young agricultural professionals. The student applicants are coming up with forward-looking, innovative ideas that can make Hungarian agriculture more efficient by implementing them. This year, for example, an idea was received for the further development of products used for the utilization of wastewater or for the replenishment of soil nutrients,”
– said Zoltán Demeter, Head of the Agricultural Business at K&H.
