It turned out how much money carpoolers “bend down” for
For a distance of 100 kilometers, 44 forints per kilometer, and 32 forints per kilometer between 100 and 300 kilometers, is the minimum expected reimbursement rate among those who share their car with strangers for one trip, according to a survey conducted among users of Oszkar.com Telekocsi. Almost a third of the drivers using the platform advertise their free seats every time, but at the same time, drivers experience the need to negotiate with passengers and adapt as a burden.
The travel distance has a significant influence on how much it is worth for motorists to share their vehicle with others, according to the Oszkár Telekoksi survey. In the course of the research, drivers using the platform pay a minimum of HUF 44 per kilometer for distances under 100 kilometers – taking into account the contribution of all passengers – meaning that it is already worth it for them to transport passengers for this amount. In the case of a distance between 100 and 300 kilometers, this minimum amount is reduced to HUF 32, but interestingly, if it is a journey longer than 300 kilometers, the minimum amount increases again to HUF 36 per kilometer, although few of those who use Oszkár’s carpooling platform go on such a long journey .
At the same time, the research also pointed out that those who share their car in the carpooling system would consider a much higher amount than the above-mentioned expected amount to be fair. In the case of trips under 100 kilometers – also considering all passengers – this would be HUF 60 per kilometer, in the case of trips between 100 and 300 kilometers it would be HUF 45, and for those longer than this it would be HUF 39.
