K&H: middle-aged Hungarians are less afraid of inflation
For the time being, Hungarians do not expect a significant decrease in inflation, but the situation has improved to the extent that, compared to 87 percent at the beginning of 2023, only 78 percent of them expect further increases in prices – among other things, this was the conclusion of the K&H’s Secure Future survey, which examined, among other things, the inflation expectations of middle-aged people . According to the research, four out of ten people would buy better quality food if inflation was lower than 10 percent.
Although the majority of middle-aged Hungarians still expect prices to rise, according to the K&H survey, they are more optimistic than before about the development of prices. This is in line with official data, according to which inflation is decelerating.
According to official data, inflation, which was still above 25 percent in the first months of 2023, became more and more restrained, in July it was already below 18 percent, and in December it fell to 5.5 percent.
