K&H: that’s why food prices continue to rise
The World Bank’s April report predicts a significant rise in food prices this year. According to the K&H expert, the main reasons for this are the rise in energy prices and the additional costs associated with sustainability goals, not the conflict in Ukraine. The latter will be a problem mainly due to the depletion of cereal stocks, but its impact will be felt next year. For Hungarian farmers, this may mean entering new markets at a very good price level, so they can prepare for the replacement of the globally expected lost crop by increasing this year’s production.
