Less money spent by foreigners
7,7 million foreign visitors arrived in Hungary in the first quarter of 2007, which is 7 per cent more than a year earlier. They had spent a total of 17,5 million days here, which is 8 per cent more than a year before. 3 per cent more Hungarians travelled abroad than a year earlier, on 3,6 million occasions. Foreign tourists spent HUF 166 billion in Hungary in the January-March period, while Hungarians spent HUF 110 billion abroad. Visitors arriving for a single day spend over 50 per cent of their money on buying food and other merchandise. Accommodation and food accounted for half of the expenditure by visitors staying for several days. There were 30 more hotels at the end of April 2007, than a year earlier.
