In less than three years, Coca-Cola HBC Hungary has become one of the TOP3 players in the domestic premium coffee market
Thanks to the introduction of the Caffè Vergnano brand on the domestic coffee market, Coca-Cola HBC Hungary increased the amount of coffee sold by 57 percent last year, and the company’s income from coffee sales increased by 50 percent. In just a few years, the company has become one of the TOP 3 players on the domestic coffee market in the HoReCa sector and in the retail market of premium coffees, managing director László Békefi said on Thursday at a joint press conference with Carolina Vergnano, CEO of Casa del Caffè Vergnano.
Just two years ago, in October 2021, the Coca-Cola HBC group bought a 30% stake in the family-owned Casa del Caffè Vergnano company, and in January 2022, it was one of the first in Hungary to start the exclusive distribution of Caffè Vergnano premium Italian coffee products. In the two years that have passed since then, the company has worked to introduce the excellent Italian espresso coffee culture to the Hungarian audience, and to teach its catering industry partners who choose the brand how to make high-quality coffee.
The premium coffees of Coca-Cola HBC Hungary are currently available in more than 2,400 retail units and more than 2,200 restaurants in the country. Within this, the number of restaurants selling Caffè Vergnano coffee exceeds 300, while the brand’s coffee specialties can currently be purchased in 200 retail stores.
In the premium coffee market, which makes up 9 percent of the retail market as a whole, beans and capsules are the dominant products. In this market, Coca-Cola HBC Hungary increased the amount of coffee sold by 57 percent last year, thanks to the introduction of Caffè Vergnano, and the income from coffee sales increased by 50 percent.
