Less ice cream sold
According to a survey by GfK Hungária, ice creams continue to remain popular, though the growth in sales has come to a stop. 68 percent of the consumers interviewed in 2009 liked ice cream, while 62 percent liked ice custard. A substantial increase has taken place in the popularity of ice creams since 2005, when these figures were only 58 and 54 percent respectively. However, a drop in the sales of ice custard has been recorded recently. Ice creams are more popular among women than men. The popularity of ice cream is highest in the 15-19 age group (83 percent), declining gradually with age. Ice custard is most popular in the 20–29 and 30–39 age groups. Households of 4-5 persons or more are over represented among those who enjoy ice creams. The frequency of ice custard consumption has dropped more substantially than its popularity. While ice custards were consumed at least weekly by one out of six people in 2007, this proportion was down to 9 percent by 2009.
