Depressed prices on the honey market
Less than average honey was produced this year, but the purchase price is still low. The Hungarian beekeepers are selling the honey on depressed prices and want EU action against counterfeit Chinese honey – hirado.hu wrote.
10 percent of the EU’s honey production is provided by Hungary, which is around 20-30 thousand tons in an average year. This year, however, the late spring frost and hail greatly reduced the quantity produced. For this reason, the purchase price would have to rise, but it did not, because of the large amount of counterfeit Chinese honey on the markets. (hirado.hu)
