We could have twice as many cattle if we could graze it
In 20 years, the herds of cattle grew eightfold in Hungary, thanks to the long-standing favorable market situation and the significant targeted subsidies – Wagenhoffer Zsombor, Managing Director of the Association of Hungarian Livestock Farmers told Magyar Hírlapban on Wednesday.
He added that quality improvement did not keep pace with quantitative development, so more emphasis should be placed on quality improvement in the future. He noted that the grassland would be able to feed double of the current stock of cattle, if grassland management and grazing were proper. (hirado.hu)
