Two bottles of rare whiskey arrive in Hungary

The Macallan Horizon is a special edition born from the partnership between the more than two hundred-year-old Scottish whisky manufacturer and the English luxury car company, which combines the values ​​that define the brands – artisanal traditions, innovation and a passion for design. The limited domestic premiere of The Macallan Horizon took place in the bar of the W Budapest hotel. The highlight of the event was the ceremonial presentation of the bottle, followed by the symbolic handover: the limited edition was received by a representative of Mr. Alcohol, the brand’s domestic distributor, Coca-Cola HBC Hungary, as its retail partner. 

During the evening, the design of Horizon’s shape-shifting bottle took center stage. The bottle and its sculptural surround are made from six materials that are key to both The Macallan and Bentley Motors’ heritage. True to its name, the spirit is housed in a horizontal glass bottle, which is made even more unique by a 180-degree screw. The bottle is wrapped in a precision-machined aluminium band, paying homage to the material used in the bodywork of luxury cars. The outer casing is made from recycled copper, partly from The Macallan’s previous stills. This is adorned with walnut veneer, the same wood used in luxury car interiors, and the interior is lined with low-carbon leather. Finally, the closure is finished with an oak inlay from one of the six casks used to mature the whisky. Together, these elements represent the meeting of the worlds of the two brands. 

The most important element of the composition is the sophisticated and characterful single malt Scotch whisky itself, which was created exclusively for The Macallan Horizon and created by Kirsteen Campbell, The Macallan’s Master Distiller. He selected six first-fill sherry-aged oak casks; the unique drink was born from the blending of these six distillates, each with its own character. Its taste is extremely rich and complex: notes of butterscotch, ginger, pineapple, vanilla, dark chocolate appear in it, complemented by oak and leather.
