Two Christmas markets will open in Budapest on November 15
In Budapest, two popular Christmas markets will open their doors on Friday, November 15: the Advent Basilica on Szent István tér, and the Vörösmarty Classic Xmas on Vörösmarty tér.
At the Advent Basilica, a 12-meter-high, decorated Christmas tree and a monumental Advent wreath raise the festive atmosphere, and three-dimensional light painting can be seen on the facade of the Basilica every day from 5:30 p.m. Advent-style concerts – gospel, folk, jazz and funk programs – entertain visitors several times a week. The Advent Basilica has already won the title of “Europe’s best Christmas market” four times, and this year it is also preparing rich programs.
At the fairs, handicraft and gastronomic exhibitors, folk artists and artisans offer special products, in addition to the traditional festive dishes, there are also many delicacies. At both fairs, there will be one meal per day at a fixed price of HUF 1,600. On Vörösmarty Square, a free miniature railway and a visual workshop await children, where master blacksmiths demonstrate their trade.
The fairs also support donations with charitable initiatives: in Szent István tér, for example, the Hungarian Ecumenical Aid Organization and the Együtt az Autistákért Alapítvány also take part to draw attention to the importance of donating with actions suitable for the holiday.
