Delays and interruptions in parcel delivery: Christmas peak period in danger?
More and more problems are arising in the domestic package delivery market, due to which customers complain about the quality of the services, reports Pénzcentrum.
In recent weeks, a number of customers have reported experiencing delays in Sameday’s services, up to a month long. Due to the oversaturation of the easybox parcel machines, the customer service is unable to predict when these parcels will arrive, which is especially worrying before the upcoming Christmas season. Several customers indicated that they would have offered alternative solutions to the problem, such as moving the package to another machine, but the company has not been able to respond meaningfully to this so far.
The decrease in the quality of services is felt not only at Sameday, but also in Packeta’s network. In the case of Packeta, the increase in orders from Temu and Vinted caused the disruptions, which caused packages to be lost for weeks. Based on the experience of the last few months, it seems that parcel delivery services in Hungary are facing many challenges. The situation is aggravated by the fact that, since March, all online stores have been obliged to offer MPL, which further increases the competition between service providers.
Difficulties in the parcel delivery sector – rising costs, lack of resources and changes in regulations – all contribute to disruptions. In light of customer dissatisfaction, deteriorating customer service quality and constant package delays, the question arises: will parcel delivery companies be able to cope with the peak Christmas traffic, or will they face more serious crises in the near future? The coming weeks will be crucial for the future of the sector, and shoppers may be forced to consider whether it’s worth choosing to shop online during the busy holiday season.
