Avoid the traps! – Black Friday is already roaring
Although the official date of Black Friday is only November 29, customers can already find plenty of sales and campaigns advertising shockingly high discounts. The Economic Competition Authority (GVH) launched an information campaign at the end of October, for which it has now published another informational video available on social media. The goal is for consumers to avoid misleading offers and make informed decisions during their purchases.
Conscious shopping is especially important during Black Friday, as many businesses take advantage of the increased desire to buy. In such cases, many merchants make use of the promise of an “unmissable offer”, which is often not as beneficial as it seems at first. A common trick is the promotion of large discounts, which only applies to a few, limited quantities of products, or the original prices are raised before the “promotion” to make the discount seem even more spectacular. In addition, urgent messages such as “Only a few pieces left!” or “The offer is only valid today!” they can easily encourage impulse buying.
In its new video, GVH provides consumers with practical, easy-to-follow advice so that they don’t get any unpleasant surprises during the year-end shopping frenzy. The goal is for customers to make sustainable and prudent decisions that are not only beneficial from a financial point of view, but also during this special period.
