Horticultural propagating materials in focus: Nébih control at three locations
Specialists from the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih), the county government offices and the NAV conducted inspections of autumn propagating material in the settlements of Győr, Újfehértó and Iregszemcse on October 20 and 21. The purpose of the inspections was also now to detect the illegal trade in propagating material and to call for correct market behavior. The investigations revealed a number of shortcomings, which is why the authorities blocked or destroyed problematic products in several cases.

During the official inspections that took place at the Arena Market in Győr, the Pet Market in Újfehértó and Iregszemcsé, the inspectors determined that a significant part of the propagating materials on the markets do not comply with the LII of 2003. the provisions of the law. This law provides for the state recognition of plant varieties, as well as the production and marketing of propagating materials.
Due to non-compliance, some of the propagating material was destroyed on site, while another part was locked up
In Újfehértó, in the case of fruit grafts, 350 raspberry trees, 100 blackcurrant trees, 15 common sycamore trees, and a smaller amount of peach, plum, cherry and apple trees were destroyed. The reason for the destruction was primarily the lack of a label or a plant passport, as well as unverified origin. In several cases, the species identity of the plants offered for sale turned out to be questionable.
