The horticultural shooting sector is facing significant development opportunities, including the domestic tomato shoot, where the good results achieved in terms of yield may increase with the new investments, Juhász Anikó, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture (AM) said at the Hungarian Tomato Day professional meeting .

Special tomato varieties are becoming more popular

She explained that the shoot area of greenhouse tomatoes in Hungary decreased to about 350 hectares, but the yield increased significantly. Anikó Juhász emphasized that the most modern technology is already used on about 120 hectares of this area. He also noted that consumer needs have changed over the last ten years, with specialties such as clustered cherry tomatoes and plum tomatoes becoming more popular. (MTI)
