Ice cream sales by shops took a favourable turn
Ice cream managed to better its market position: according to the Nielsen Retail Index retail turnover increased in terms of both value – by 3 percent, reaching HUF 18 billion – and volume – by 1 percent (the trend turned around from minus 8 percent last year). Among the 90 categories measured by Nielsen, ice cream is among the 20 food categories with the highest turnover. Ice cream sales in supermarkets and discount stores grew from 44 to 49 percent from one year to another, in terms of value. Stores larger than 2,500 m² and smaller than 50 m² lost buyers.
