Positive developments in the market
According to PÁIR data from the Research Institute of Agricultural Economics (AKI), the production price of bread wheat – without VAT and shipping costs – was HUF 136.9 thousand/tonne, feed wheat cost HUF 134.3 thousand/tonne, feed maize’s price was HUF 117.5 thousand/tonne (+39% if compared with one year earlier) on the last week of July. Industrial sunflower seed’s production price was HUF 242.7 thousand /tonne (+54%), and rapeseed cost HUF 284.8 thousand/tonne (+63%).
In the first 5 months of 2022, 253,000 tonnes of poultry was slaughtered in Hungary, 12.7% less than in the same period of 2021. Broiler chicken’s live weight price grew by 42.9% to HUF 387/kg, while the price of broiler turkey jumped 28.9% to HUF 511/kg in the first 29 weeks of 2022, if compared with the same period of 2021. In the European Union the average price of whole chicken was around EUR 247/100kg in the first 29 weeks of this year, up 24.9%. In Hungary this price soared by 44.4% to HUF 756/kg. //
