As a supporter of the Hungarian Astronaut Program, KOMETA has developed a snack product inspired by space travel. Although Tibor Kapu was not allowed to take it into space, he tasted the special product during his factory visit in Kaposvár. The Kometini snack salami is now available at the Hungarians in Space Visitor Center in Budapest, and is expected to be on store shelves next year.

KOMETA in Kaposvár was a proud supporter of the HUNOR national space program, within the framework of which Tibor Kapu conducted numerous scientific experiments during his more than two-week stay on the International Space Station. Although salami was not allowed to be included among the special foods that can be consumed in space, KOMETA developed the Kometini snack salami for the historic space trip, which was made in classic and paprika flavors.

Tibor Kapu tasted the product inspired by space travel during his factory visit in Kaposvár. Kometini is now available for purchase at the HUNIVERZUM experience center in Budapest and is scheduled to be available on store shelves in 2026. The astronaut was welcomed by Giacomo Pedranzini, CEO of KOMETA, at the factory and told him about the background to the birth of Kometini snack salami. “At KOMETA, we work to create value by combining our traditions and innovation. Kometini, inspired by successful space travel, is a perfect example of this,” said the CEO.

For KOMETA, Kometini snack salami is not just a new product, but also a symbol of the company’s innovation efforts. The Hungarian food industry thus offers added value not only for everyday life, but also for the future, building on tradition and inspiration at the same time.
