With a capsule chamber against food waste – Advice from the Nébih Without Leftovers program
Conscious management of household food supplies plays an important role in reducing food waste in households. The Without Residues program of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) provides practical guidance through the capsule pantry concept on how to create a basic food supply in households.
The essence of the capsule pantry is to create a set of basic foods, adapted to the eating habits of the household, that can be used in a variety of ways, can be combined well with each other and can be stored for a longer period of time. The basic set created in this way can provide everyday assistance in menu planning, thereby reducing unnecessary expenses caused by impulsive purchases. The capsule pantry is based on durable foods such as cooking oil, spices, pasta, rice, canned goods and various sauces, which can also be supplemented with frozen meats, vegetables and fruits.
Conscious pantry design is a simple but easy-to-use tool for reducing food waste in the long term, which must fit the shopping and eating habits of the given household. The full announcement can be read here.
