Nébih’s 10-year-old Without a Trace program announces mascot design competition

Food waste is one of the most serious sustainability challenges worldwide, which has significant environmental and economic burdens. Since 2016, the Nébih No Leftovers program has been continuously working to reduce the amount of wasted food through the everyday decisions of the population. Fortunately, we are on the right track; according to a survey by Nébih, the amount of food waste generated in Hungarian households has decreased by about a third in recent years, to which the Maradék nélkül program has also contributed significantly.

The aim of the Mascot Design competition announced on the occasion of the anniversary year is to further support the work carried out to reduce household food waste with a new, visually strong message carrier. The competition can be applied individually or in groups of up to five people, from primary school children to adults. The task of the participants is to design a mascot figure that is visually and substantively related to the prevention of food waste, that appeals to both children and adults, and that is suitable for appearing in the form of a plush figure or costume.

Entries can be made using any technique. The condition for applying is a short, textual presentation of the dreamed mascot, and the submission of a drawing or photo of it.

The deadline for submitting the application is March 22, 2026.

The submitted works will be evaluated by a jury consisting of the staff of the Without a Residue program, and there will also be an audience vote. The winners of the categories will receive valuable gift certificates, and the selected mascot design may also appear as the official mascot of the Without a Residue program in the future.
